Pocari Sweat?

by Rhoy Pamparo on Sep.27, 2008, under Personal Thoughts

pocari sweatMy wife, Tin, and I always find interesting things whenever we go grocery shopping in an Asian store. Tonight was particularly funny seeing a “drink” aptly named “Pocari Sweat”! Tin was so amazed that she even took a picture of it. A minute after, I saw a Chinese (at least that’s what I think) guy descent grab one and put it in his basket. He probably knows something that we don’t! Apparently, he did. Me being an internet junkie, google’d the name as soon as I got home. Pocari Sweat is a drink that came from Japan and is known through out Asia as a supplement for fluid loss ala Gatorade. Now I feel bad for not buying one to try! Grrrr … oh well …

Here’s the wiki site: Pocari Sweat

So next time you go to the grocery store, try to look around. You never know what you are going to find!

10 Years After

by Rhoy Pamparo on Sep.12, 2008, under Personal Thoughts

After 10 years and 3 months, my tenure with Bank Of Nova Scotia had officially come to an end. Today is my last day of employment. It has been a long journey filled with awesome time & lots of learning with a hint of frustrations & disappointment every so often. I have met so many people, some of which I consider very close friends. I will cherish all the moments and will not forget my time with Scotia.

But come Monday, I will start a new chapter in my life with a new employer. I have high hopes and expectations and I know that my new manager has for me as well. I am looking forward to this new opportunity.

Somebody said, “When God closes the door, He opens a window”. I asked God to close the door, and he graciously did. I asked God to open another window, and he graciously did. I will trust in God to guide me through this journey.

Understanding the Romans

by Rhoy Pamparo on Sep.10, 2008, under Personal Thoughts

Its amazing how God works in ways we could not fully understand!

Last week, I started to read the book of Romans while riding the subway to work. Eventually, I completed reading the whole book a few days after. But somehow there was something missing. I had the longing to know about the book more. I told myself that I have to find ways to try to learn the lessons in this book. But somehow I didn’t do a thing about it.

Today, I attended the “Men In The Word” fellowship at Bayview Glen for the first time. Lo and behold! They, or should I say we, will be starting a deeper study of the book of Romans starting next week. Wow, I was delightfully surprised! This really is an answer to a prayer that I did not pray! Thank you, Lord!
