Understanding the Romans
by Rhoy Pamparo on Sep.10, 2008, under Personal Thoughts
Its amazing how God works in ways we could not fully understand!
Last week, I started to read the book of Romans while riding the subway to work. Eventually, I completed reading the whole book a few days after. But somehow there was something missing. I had the longing to know about the book more. I told myself that I have to find ways to try to learn the lessons in this book. But somehow I didn’t do a thing about it.
Today, I attended the “Men In The Word” fellowship at Bayview Glen for the first time. Lo and behold! They, or should I say we, will be starting a deeper study of the book of Romans starting next week. Wow, I was delightfully surprised! This really is an answer to a prayer that I did not pray! Thank you, Lord!
We Believe Quicktake

I had a chance to do a quick-take of the melody (verse 1) for the song that I wrote about a week ago.
Here’s the link to the lyrics: We Believe
Listen to the melody that is hard-panned to the left. I used my Takamine for both tracks and no post-processing.
Here’s the link to the MP3: We Believe Verse 1 Melody
Enjoy and God bless …
We Believe

Title: We Believe
September 1, 2008
Verse 1
We come before you Lord today
With broken hearts and in despair
On bended knees and heads bowed down
We sing
Verse 2
Lord let your Spirit flow in us
Your mighty hands to work within
With lifted hands we sing your praise
We declare
Chorus:
We believe, we believe in you, oh Father
We believe, we believe in your Son Jesus
We believe, we believe in you, Holy Spirit
Make us worthy to receive
Bridge:
Your healing power, Your living water
Quench our thirst and fill our hunger
For you, oh God
Football Is Back
by Rhoy Pamparo on Sep.02, 2008, under Personal Thoughts
Finally! After a long wait, NFL will be back in action starting this Thursday night. I have high hopes for my favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m also excited to see what the new trend would teams try to implement this year. Is there any team that is capable of having a perfect season again? How do teams react to what happened last year? Deep inside, I think this is the reason why the Eagles loaded up with superstar defensive backs. It will be tougher for the slot receiver, which the Patriots really used smartly last year, to go one on one with a proven starting corner, than a 3rd string guy. We’ll see how it goes. For now, I’m just happy that football is back. Fly, Eagles, Fly!
Woah, United Live Conference
by Rhoy Pamparo on Aug.31, 2008, under Personal Thoughts
What a great day (and 2 nights) for a conference! The messages by Pastor Brian Houston and Pastor Phil Dooley are just so inspiring. They moved a lot of people including myself with their spirit-filled sermons and testimonies.
The music was good, but nothing spectacular. Although I must say that the production, lighting and visuals, are top-notched and world-class. Heavy drumming, delay-soaked guitar riffs and filler words like “Woah” were very prominent in most of the songs. Tunes written by Brooke Fraser (now married) and some from Joel Houston are really really deep lyrically, yet lack the musical creativity that it should have. The musicians are great and I just don’t know why they are not taking the music to another level. But that’s probably just me and my musical preference.
Overall, it was a great event and was very refreshing. I’ve got to spend a fair amount of time with some of Bayview Glen’s worship team. Had one-on-one spiritual talks with some guys which I really cherished a lot.
Now its our chance to apply what we have learned about love, patience, challenges, community, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. With the grace of God, we will do it and may His name be glorified!
