oh yeah, the Zen definitely impressed on this one!

i usually run my drives independently but every once in a while i would stack depending on the songs. it was much easier to do when i had a Sparkle Drive with very low gain settings. i will stack the Zen with Twin Tube's lower gain channel every once in while but it's just hard to predict the sound/volume.

i have gotten away with using drives only (maybe a little bit of tremolo) for months without any delay (gasp!).

it's good to see you're blogging again, i'll definitely check it out!

The Zen Drive is BAD to the bone, man. Do you mostly stack gains or run each channel independently? You're the same as me - there's not really a lot you need outside of drive and delay...

I'm also blogging again and doing media reviews at mediareviewed.wordpress.com.

thanks Larry! I'm glad you liked it :)

i was very happy with the Zen on this mix. The Twin Tube did sound a bit out of place but it really sat well in the mix. Amazing how sometimes a tone sounds bland by itself but really fits well in a mix!

The 1/2 Gainer doesn't stack. Each channel is independent of each other. It's not one of those cascading circuits. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to use this. Most probably, I'll set it up with similar gain with 1 slightly louder so it sounds like it just got boosted. it does share the same tone stack though.

Wow, nice mix there. To me on the clip, the twin tube didn't really seem to stand out that much... it sounded like it blended with the others while each other drive really had its own character. The Zen sounds very rounded and full. The half gain sounds kinda like a clean (dirty clean) and the solo tone was really raunchy (loved it!).

How does the 1/2 gain sound when you stack it on itself/run both channels?

I really liked this post. Thanks brother!
