9 in 2009

by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.30, 2009, under Personal Thoughts

Everybody seems to be doing the “list” for the end of 2009 so I decided to jump the bandwagon. I was going to do a year-in-pictures type of thing, but after choosing from the 2000+ pictures, I thought that it is a lot of work! :D

Instead, here’s a list of the 9 most important things that we experienced in 2009!

  • Family started 2009 in the Philippines
  • Tin turns big “3-0″
  • I started a “new” job
  • We moved to a new apartment
  • Gabby’s first time on CN Tower & Maid of the Mist
  • Family trip to Dominican Republic (first time in the Caribbean)
  • Gabby started attending Junior Kindergarten
  • My trip to US with Dave (San Diego & New York)
  • We are expecting our 2nd child!

Lots of things to be thankful for as we look forward to the next year. There will be lots of expectations and lots of uncertainties. But we are not worried …

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today”. — Matthew 6:34 (New Living Translation)

The Pamparo Family

Have a blessed new year everybody!

Song for my Baby

by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.24, 2009, under Melodic Insights

I got a my early Christmas gift in the first week of December. It’s the great news that I am going to be a father to a baby again. It just, oh so, inspired me to write this simple song … Still working on the melody, though :)

Enjoy! And, Merry Christmas to you all …

My Precious Child
by: Rhoy Pamparo

Verse 1

I cannot yet hear
The sound of your heart beating
I know you are there
In the womb slowly growing

Verse 2

Few months from now
A few more days of longing
You will come out
My arms are gently waiting

Chorus

And I will praise the Lord
As I praise Him right now
And I will thank him for
The blessings of love
There inside a mother’s womb
A gift from God came to be
Little child, my precious child

Verse 3

I know you can hear
The voice of Daddy longing
For you to be born
So I can lift you up to Him

Bridge

It’s amazing how
How God puts his trust
Precious little ones
In the hands of mere humans
It’s a day of pain
It’s a day of birth
Fragile little one
From God the Father to us

Gear Fasting

by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.18, 2009, under Personal Thoughts

Well, I went for a 1-year “gear fasting” and I am proud to say that it is almost done! I have promised myself in the beginning of year (that is, 2009) that I will not buy any equipment/gear that is related to guitars. There was one misstep, when my wife gave me a Barber 1/2 Gainer Overdrive for my birthday. Although, technically, I didn’t buy it. So really, it’s not cheating. Isn’t it?! :)

So as a reward for being such a good boy, I am starting to look at these 2 products:

- Tascam DR-07 Hand-held Recorder
- TC Electronic Nova Repeater

Both are priced similarly, but obviously, would provide different sort of enjoyment to me. So far it’s a 50-50 proposition for both. Okay, maybe a slight edge to the Nova Repeater. C’mon, who can say “No” to a delay pedal!

Anyhow, let me know what you think!

Fly Eagles Fly

by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.11, 2009, under Personal Thoughts

I’ll be traveling tonight to meet up with a good friend Dave. We’ll be watching Sunday Night Football in a classic NFC East matchup. I hope that I get the chance to sing this song in the midst of all the New York Giants fans in there!

Fly Eagles Fly

But as Dave said, his Kung-Fu might not be able to protect from the hoards of Giant lovers in the stadium. But I’ll still cheer for my beloved Eagles team, albeit silently … if I can be silent! :D

E-A-G-L-E-S !!!

It’s Only Tuesday

by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.09, 2009, under Personal Thoughts

I bumped into a “neighbor” in the hallway of our apartment yesterday. Here’s a short but sort of meaningful conversation …

Neighbor: How are you?

Me: I’m good. Yourself?

Neighbor: It’s only Tuesday, and I can’t change it!

Me: Haha! Well, might as well enjoy the rest of it

Neighbor: We complain about things we can’t do anything about, huh?

“We complain about things we can’t do anything about”! Isn’t this so true? We do complain about lots of things that we don’t have control over. We complain about the weather, we complain when things don’t go our way, we complain, complain, complain!

But, instead of complaining, why not just be thankful. Thankful that we have survived from Monday and is still alive on a Tuesday. Or thankful that we can walk or carry a conversation with somebody in a hallway of an apartment building. Or have a chance to write about a conversation in a blog …

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. — Psalm 118-24 (NIV)

It’s only Tuesday … what are you gonna do?!
