Let It Snow!
by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.09, 2009, under Personal Thoughts
First day of snow fall in Toronto!
I don’t know why I am excited about snow. Maybe because my son is influencing me with his enthusiasm. Or maybe because I am ready for winter driving. Or maybe because it signals that it is really the Christmas holidays. No matter what the reason is, winter is here for the next 3 months or so!
Little Child’s Prayer
by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.04, 2009, under Personal Thoughts
It’s amazing how God uses ordinary situation to touch the hearts of people. We had some friends over tonight and before we started eating dinner, my son Gabby, had the privilege of praying for the food. Here’s an excerpt of his prayer:
“Dear God … Bless those peoples who don’t have money to buy food. We have food to eat. In Jesus name, Amen … “
Wow, this is coming from a 4-year old who heard about the problem of poverty here in Toronto. I really choked up … really, I did. I have been thinking when was the last time I actually prayed for them … or actually do something for them.
Jesus said, as recorded in Matthew 25:40
The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
So this Christmas season, before we think of the food, or the gifts, or the festivities, let us say a little prayer like what my son prayed for. Better yet, let’s try to do something for those people in need …
Downtown TO Underground Path
by Rhoy Pamparo on Dec.01, 2009, under Personal Thoughts
There is a new segment of The Path (Toronto’s underground pathway) that just opened today. I know, because I used it earlier … the shops are not open yet and the Food Court doesn’t have anything besides chairs/tables and nice flat-screen monitors!
It usually takes me about 10 minutes to go to the Eaton Center, now only takes me 2 minutes! Woohoo!!! More time to walk around during lunch time … what a great timing, now that its really starting to get colder
Take note of the dotted lines between Scotia Plaza & Hudson Bay Company (thru Bay Adelaide Center)
Have fun!
That’s Greedy
by Rhoy Pamparo on Nov.22, 2009, under Personal Thoughts
So we went to Yorkdale Mall today to do some Christmas shopping. In the mall, parents can rent a stroller that is nicely decorated as a race car for $5. Upon returning the stroller, the machine will dispense $1 back.
Here’s snippet of a conversation I had with this very clever woman on my way to return the stroller I rented.
Woman: Are you returning the cart?
Me: Yes, I am.
Woman: Here’s $1 for it.
Me: Sorry, I have to return it. It’s not fair.
Woman: Here’s the $1. That’s what you will get.
Me: I will just return it and get my $1 from the machine.
Woman: Oh, that’s greedy.
Me: Sorry, I am not greedy. I paid $5 for it and will get the $1 from the machine. You wanted to get it for free by giving me $1 only and getting it back from the machine.
Woman: That’s greedy …
End of conversation.
I started walking towards the machine to get my $1 refund.
Now, can someone answer me please: Is that being greedy?! Doh!!!
Short 12-bar Blues Progression
by Rhoy Pamparo on Nov.10, 2009, under Melodic Insights
I forgot that I lived in Canada last night! I was waiting to watch the Monday Night Football game but was not aired until later due to the Hockey Hall of Fame coverage. But that’s ok, I’ve got to spend time with my old-forgotten Godin Radiator. My cheap first electric guitar that has seen more of the inside of the case since I got my Les Paul and Telecaster.
I gave it some love last night and just played this simple 12-bar blues progression:
D – D – D – D
G – G – D – D
A – G – D – D
Here it is: 12-bar Blues with Godin Radiator
Very cool!
